They Weren't So Bad

If there is one thing that I truly despise more than anything in this world it is tomatoes.  Lame, huh? There are a lot of other better things that I could spend my time despising.  People find the fact that I hate tomatoes to be very interesting. Upon finding out I usually get that person's head tilted to the side with a "hmm...really? What do you mean?"  What  I mean is that I HATE tomatoes...and ketchup...and spaghetti sauce.  I like pizza, but I do order VERY light, almost non-existent sauce.  Believe me, this is not a fact about me that I like.  For as long as I can remember I have really desperately wanted to like tomatoes and all of those other foods that I listed that so many people love.

But guess what! This past weekend our good friends Jillian and TK had so over for dinner and a movie.  Jillian asked me if there was anything that Jake and I didn't like just to be sure that she didn't make anything that we wouldn't be excited about.  I told her that Jake would eat anything and that the only thing that I would prefer not to see was...can you guess?...that's right, tomatoes!

So the next day Jillian texted me and told me she was planning to make a really killer taco soup and just wanted to say that tomatoes are included but it isn't chunks of tomatoes would that be ok?  I was intrigued as I thought about my answer to that.  I love tacos!!!  Every night at my house would be taco night if Jake would let me get away with it.  Taco soup had to be similar to tacos right?  So I went along with it, and spent the rest of the afternoon excited about the taco part and psyching myself up for the tomato part.

The rest of the day flew by in a frenzy and before I knew it I was sitting in front of a plate of what smelled and looked like delicious soup.  I didn't give myself time to question or think about the tomatoes that were on my taco salad concoction I had put together and just took the first bite.  It was good.  It was really good.  Before I knew it I had seconds and wasn't thinking about a bit about the tomatoes.  I was very proud of myself in my head.  Inside I was telling those tomatoes to take that, I'm not scared of you anymore!  I'm not getting carried away though, I don't want anyone making me a tomato sandwich anytime soon but, you know what? Ever since dinner that night, I've actually been craving to have it again!

Who would've thought that tomatoes weren't actually that bad?

Tuesday's Tunes...on Wednesday

Yesterday was so busy, I hardly had time to sit down and prop my feet up and snuggle Jake.

Speaking of Jake, every month on the 8th he brings home flowers for me...You see we got married on the 8th of October...before that, be brought me flowers every month on the 2nd because we started dating on the 2nd of some month long ago.  It's really so sweet to see him come in holding flowers out towards me, so proud of himself that he remembered and that they make me so happy.

You know what else makes me happy? Holding a baby...they are so cute and my new friend Jillian has one of the cutest babies ever.  Last night I went to Enrichment, Jillian was presenting for part of the time and, so I got hold this baby for a little while.  It's so nice to have a new friend in our ward.  They are the sweetest little family and I hope to be as cute of a little mama as Jillian is.
Jillian and Aiden
You know what I did after Enrichment?  I met a couple of horny dirt bags...at least, that's what Jake called them.  Enrichment lasted a little longer than I thought it was going to and as I was talking to Jake on the way home he said that he would love nothing more than for me to bring home a stuffed crust pizza.  Seeing as he brought me flowers and all earlier that day how could I say no?  So off I went to the Pizza Hut to pick up our romantic dinner and I pull of to the window and this is the conversation that followed

Horny Dirt bag: (looks me up and down...you know the look) Hey, how YOU doing?
Me: I'm good...do you have an order for Watson ready?
Horny Dirtbag: I sure do, it'll be $12.48...(leans down on to the window) so what bring you to Pizza Hut tonight?
Me: umm, my order.
Horny Dirtbag: Do you come here a lot?
Me: Only when it's what my husband wants for dinner.
Horny dirtbag:  Ohh, what's your husband up to tonight?
Me: He's at home. Did you say my order was ready?
Horny dirtbag: Let me go check again. Now that i'm thinking about it, I don't think that it is.
Me: ok.
Horny Dirt bag: It's almost ready, just another minute, they'll bring it to you when it's done...you come back real soon Carly (as he read my name off of his copy of my receipt.

This was all obnoxious, funny, flattering and ridiculous at the same time.  I had a friend on the phone the whole time and she thought it was the funniest thing she had heard all day while it was happening, but it's nice to know that the Pizza Hut guys think that I've still got it.

Once I finally made it home to spend some quality time with my hubs it was 9 o' clock.  We ate our pizza and watched Modern Family, and laughed and laughed and laughed at that show.

So there it is, my long day yesterday...exciting right?  So for all of those that were looking forward to Tuesday's Tunes, here is the song that I chose yesterday but didn't have time to write about...it's the new Rascal Flatts song, and I thought it was fitting for the day since Jake and I have not been married for four months.

P.S. Can I just say how smokin' hot Joe Don is?  He has a terrible name, but good grief, isn't he nice to look at?

Hello Prince Charming, My Name is Carly...

How we Met...
About a year and half ago I was working every Tuesday and Thursday night during the week. For some reason I happened to have Tuesday night off one week and went to Institute that night. Jake and his brother Justin also happened to be there that night. After classes are over everyone usually congregates in the gym because there is food and volleyball and basketball. Jordan and I have played basketball for years and really like to play and so when they started playing knock out we both jumped up. I only played like two games though, I don't remember why, but Jordan kept playing and kept playing and so did Jake.
I sat on the stage and talked to Jake's brother, Justin, until Jordan was ready to leave. The only thing I really remember from this first time that we saw each other, was that Jake kept coming up to us when someone knocked him out of the game and talking about how good Jordan was. Well, apparently Jake thought I was cute and so when he and his brother were leaving the church he asked him what my name was and when he got home he friended both me and Jordan on facebook.
He never said anything to me on facebook or wrote on my wall or anything, we were just silent friends. He claims that he was going to talk to me in person because he didn't want to be weird on facebook, but he never saw me at institute again...because I was working.
I'm one of those people that unfriends people on facebook if I don't really know you or haven't talked to you in a long time, and so after about a year of never talking to or seeing Jake again I unfriended him. Well, of course, after doing this we run into each other again. He came to Family Home Evening, which is on Monday nights, and I usually did go to that. I was helping clean up with one of Jake's good friends and we were talking about getting some people together to hang out at my house and he said that he would bring his friends Jake and David with him. I was fine with this but didn't know who Jake and David were.
After we had finished cleaning up, I walked into the gym for....surprise...a game of knock out. I got in line and happened to step in behind Jake. I knocked him out that first game, and then he knocked me out the second game. I challenged him to a game of PIG which we played until it was time to go. As I was leaving Jake's friend that I had been cleaning up with came up and told Jake they were coming to my house a couple of days later and that's how I learned who Jake was. Jordan was rushing me to leave and so I told Jake to friend me on facebook. I got home first though and I looked him up on facebook and was surprised to see that he was the same person I had unfriend a week earlier! I hoped that he wouldn't notice and might have forgotten that we had been friends. So he we became friends again and then he talked to me a lot the next day on facebook chat and then came over the next night to hang out with a bunch of people and every night after that...

The end.

Friends are Kisses Blown to Us...

I've been thinking a lot lately about friends and what that word means...what is my definition of friendship? I have a lot of different kinds of friends...some that I've had for a long time that I don't talk to very often but when we do get on the phone with each other we can talk for hours and it's like no time has passed at all. This is Kendal. Kendal is one of my best friends from high school. We were best friends and we dated boys that were best friends. Kendal and I played basketball together and I love her a lot. She is always there even now when we only talk every couple of months. If I have something I need to talk about and I don't know who to call I can call Kendal and I know she gets it.
Then there is Leah: Leah and I used to spend every weekend at each others houses. We played soccer together and literally were together all the time. We scheduled our classes in high school so that we would have them together. She went to UNCW for college and I went to NC State and now UNCC and we rarely talk on the phone but we see each other over almost every break from school and when we do talk we have the same friendship we had five years ago in high school and it's refreshing to know that we are still there for each other.
Then there are the friends that you see everyday and so you have a different dimension of friendship when it comes to these people.
My Sister: I live with my sister and so I see her everyday and she is my best friend. She knows everything that happens on a day to day basis and is there to tell me what she things about things.
Jordan is a really strong person that I look up to (literally and figuratively). When I'm in a bad mood she can make me laugh, when I'm upset, she's who I want here to talk to about it. The best thing about Jordan is that she is family and so she will always be there.
My parents:As I have gotten older my parents have become some of my best friends. I feel comfortable saying whatever I want to to them and when I'm having a bad day I'll call them because my dad will tell my it's out of my control anyway and my mom will give me every reason that she can think of for me to not be upset about whatever it is. They also encourage me when I want something, like changing my major 3 times and transferring schools and even my decision to move to Utah a few months ago. They want what's best for me and I want what is best for them too.
My boyfriend: Jake is pretty much the sweetest person that I know. It blows my mind sometimes when I realize over and over again that what he wants the most is for me to be happy and he makes it very obvious. I think that it's incredible how sure and steady he is about things, especially us because I don't tend to have a lot of faith in relationships. I know that I can talk to him about anything and that even if he doesn't totally understand he'll let me get it out and say what he can to try to make me feel better or gain a new perspective on something. It also seems to come really easy to Jake to tell me how he feels especially when it's about me, and I admire that because I don't always have the easiest time talking about how I feel. He makes it a little easier though because he really listens and takes it in and respects and understands how I feel about everything.I think it's really cute that he knows, to the day, how long we've been dating and that he gets excited to play the Rite Aid game of life with me, and how he wants to win the convertible as the grand prize because I told him I would marry him next month if he did. I like that he wants me to come to his basketball games and family dinners. I like that he says he lives Grey's Anatomy and he understands the importance of being home by nine on Sundays to watch Desperate Housewives. I like that he lets me pluck his eyebrows and cut his hair. I like that he surprised me with flowers because I had a bad day at work. I like the way he wants to spend all his time with me and how I know he's the best guy I've ever dated and that he treats me better then anyone else ever has.
Laura: Laura is my cousin. I love Laura to pieces! She is just a sweetheart. She is always looking out for other people and calculating how her actions will affect those around her. She is hardworking and dedicated to everything that she does. She lives in Utah and I got to spend a weekend with her back in October and she is such an example of everything that is good. She concentrates on positive in life and often times I concentrate on the negative so when I start to do that I try to think of Laura and what she would say about things. Also with Laura are Steve and Melanie, I just don't have a picture of them. Steve and Melanie are some of the most generous people that I know. They are welcoming and warm. I can talk to them about anything and they are so open to anything I have to say. I just love them and their family and can't wait to spend the summer with them!
Russo: That's right, Russo is my family's dog. She is one of my favorite friends because she is always so happy to see me. It could be because I always feed her sandwich meat when I'm at home but I think it's more then that. I never have to question how Russo feels, she always meets me at the door with her tail wagging or she sits in front of me and puts her paw on my leg. I really do think that Russo is smart and sometimes really do expect her to talk back to me, I know she understands how the people in my family feel and she is an exceptional part of our family.
This is just a quick snapshot of the most important people in my life right now, there are many more and maybe I'll add another post that includes them because that people in our lives make us who we are.
